OM SYSTEM announced the OM-3 on February 6, 2025, combining a 20.37MP stacked Live MOS sensor and TruePic X processing with a retro magnesium-alloy body. A front creative dial gives direct access to color and monochrome profiles, while a dedicated CP button brings computational photography functions within reach.[1]
Those functions include Live ND, Live GND, handheld high-resolution shooting and focus stacking. The 1,053-point all-cross-type phase-detection AF system supports AI subject detection. Sequential shooting reaches 120fps with focus and exposure fixed; continuous-AF performance depends on the shooting mode and compatible lens. Five-axis stabilization operates in the body, with additional synchronization available when a supported stabilized lens is fitted.[1][2]
The camera provides IP53 protection with a suitable weather-sealed lens and is specified for operation down to −10°C. Japan’s launch announcement scheduled sales for March 1, with body-only and 12-45mm F4 PRO kit options.[1]
The same announcement introduces the RM-WR2 Bluetooth remote, also scheduled for March 1 in Japan at ¥12,650 including tax. It supports still-photo release and movie start/stop, with IP57 protection. Its included cable can serve cameras that accept wired remote control, but the OM-3 itself does not support a wired remote connection.[1]
