OM SYSTEM announced PEN on September 9, 2026. It is the first PEN under the OM SYSTEM brand and the first in the series with splash protection and a dust-conscious design. Its side-positioned electronic viewfinder follows earlier PEN models with EVFs rather than marking a series first for that feature.[1]
A 20.37MP Live MOS sensor and TruePic IX processor work with five-axis in-body stabilization, rated for up to 5.5 stops at the image center under specified conditions. The 121-point all-cross-type phase-detection AF system recognizes people, dogs and cats. A front selector accesses color and monochrome profiles, while the CP button opens computational features including high-resolution shooting, Live ND and focus stacking.[1]
Splash protection is rated IPX1 when paired with a suitably protected lens. The original Japanese plan called for late-October sales in silver or black, with body-only, new 14-42mm III kit and double-zoom kit options. The new 1,285mAh BLS-7 battery is rated for approximately 410 CIPA shots; BCS-7 is its dedicated charger.[1]
Update, October 7, 2026: Japan’s release date is October 30 for the camera, kits, new lens and power accessories. OM SYSTEM warns that some PEN and power-accessory preorders may not arrive until spring 2027 or later, depending on the product and color.[2]
