OM SYSTEM announced the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO on September 10, 2025. Its constant F2.8 aperture accompanies an angle of view equivalent to 100–400mm on a 35mm camera. The internally zooming lens uses 21 elements in 13 groups and weighs approximately 1,075g without its tripod foot.[1][2]
Minimum focusing distance is 0.78m throughout the zoom range, with maximum equivalent magnification of 0.5×. The supported MC-20 teleconverter extends the longest angle of view to an 800mm equivalent at F5.6. Compatible cameras can also use focus stacking and continuous AF at up to 50fps, subject to the camera and shooting settings.[1][2]
The design combines IP53 protection, operation down to −10°C, a fluorine-coated front element and heat-reflective white paint. The quoted maximum seven-stop Sync IS result was measured with the OM-1 Mark II at 200mm under specified conditions. A new LH-82C hood includes a filter-access window.[1][2]
Japan’s announcement sets made-to-order sales for September 27. North American availability is scheduled for October 3 at $3,699.99 US or $4,699.99 CAD.[1][2]
Also released September 10, OM-1 firmware 1.8 enables SH2-mode 50fps continuous AF with this lens on the original OM-1.[3]
