OM SYSTEM announced the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II on February 6, 2025. The Micro Four Thirds super-telephoto zoom covers an angle of view equivalent to 200–800mm on a 35mm camera, with five-axis Sync IS added to support handheld work at long focal lengths.[1]
The quoted maximum of seven stops of stabilization comes from a specified test combination: the OM-1 Mark II at the lens’s 100mm position, under the manufacturer’s stated conditions. It is not a promise for every focal length or camera. The lens also supports the MC-14 and MC-20 teleconverters; the latter extends its longest angle of view to a 1600mm equivalent. Minimum focusing distance is 1.3m throughout the range, with maximum equivalent magnification of 0.57×.[1][2]
Other changes include a tripod foot that can be removed while the lens remains mounted on a camera, plus fluorine coating on the front element. Splash protection is rated IPX1, alongside a dust-conscious design, subject to the stated camera and handling requirements.[1]
Japan’s announced release date is March 1, with a tax-inclusive lens price of ¥231,000 and a limited MC-14 bundle also listed. A newly introduced LSC-1127 lens case is scheduled for the same day at ¥6,600 including tax.[1]
